Free Portuguese Language Class for English speakers begins tonight at 6 p.m. at the Edgartown library. Eladio Falcao, the instructor, will combine teaching about Brazilian culture and history with the language classes. To reserve a space in this class, call the library at 508-627-4221.
House of Bones, a film by Victoria Campbell, screens at 6:30 p.m. at the Vineyard Playhouse, followed at 8 p.m. by a wine and cheese reception, slideshow and talk by Victoria and Abby Pope about their recent relief trip to Haiti. Benefits St. Damien's hospital in Port-au-Prince. Admission is $20 for film and reception; reception only, $15.

Body, Mind and Spirit Fair, featuring free tools and workshops throughout the day, is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at VFW Post 9261 on Towanticut avenue in Oak Bluffs. Private, individual metaphysical readings and healing sessions available. Tarot cards, clairvoyants, astrology, tea leaf and palm readings, crystal reiki healing and massage therapy. Vineyard Conservation Society Winter Walk: A guided walk to the Christiantown fire tower in West Tisbury. Correllus State Forest superintendent John Varkonda will lead the walk to the 68-foot tall steel structure, in continuous operation since 1950, while discussing fire threats and the local impact of climate change.
